We analyze the half-BPS sector of the N=8 3d SCFT within the radial quantization of the ABJM theory, the theory proposed to describe N M2-branes in the R^3xC^4/Z_k background. We show that all the half-BPS states of this theory which exhibit SU(2)xSU(3) symmetry, are those which involve 't Hooft monopole operator and there is a one-to-one correspondence between the set of these operators and the possible monopole operators in a sector with given R-charge J. We show that all such monopole operators, and hence the half-BPS states, are labeled by Young tableaux of J boxes with maximum N rows. We discuss that the half-BPS sector has a description in terms of N 2d fermions. The same classification, though for the N case, arise from the plane-wave (BMN) Matrix theory as well as the 11 dimensional LLM bubbling geometries, providing supportive evidence for the ABJM and/or the Matrix model.
