  Abstract:
The behavior of a single electron is investigated in the single slab Cherenkov free-electron laser, for which theelectron motion near the surface of a dielectric is the basis of its operation. Electron motion is studied to make certain that itstays in the interaction zone and does not hit the dielectric. The Lorentz force equation is used to derive a set of coupleddifferential equations that are solved numerically by the Runge??Kutta method to simulate the electron motion in thedesired structure. The effects of an axial magnetic field and the radiation on the electron motion are studied in order to havean efficient interaction between the electron and the radiation.
