We find that the entanglement, as quantified by negativity, between two spins in two general classes of parity invariant heterogeneous spin-(1,1/2)systems, can be expressed in terms of spin-spin correlation functions. We
show explicitly that in addition to one and two-point correlations, the triad correlations play crucial role in the bipartite entanglement. These correlations represent the spin 1/2-quadrupole.
Utilizing these results, the entanglement in several systems of interest with higher symmetries is also studied.
