| | Abstract: In this talk which is aimed at physics undergraduate or graduate students, we discuss that progress in physics, like any other science, requires working on three aspects: public understanding of science, science education and research. Here, I focus on the research part and enumerate various "outputs" of scientific research. We discuss that these scientific outputs are evaluated based on their impact on the scientific progress or on the society. In the end we briefly discuss the "research statistics" as a way to quantify and evaluate scientific research and its shortcomings.
