Introducing neurotransmitters and their corresponding receptors
7 Nov. 2013

Neuron, an excitable cell which processes, receives and transmits information, is the most important cell in the nervous system. Information is exchanged via action potential and comes into neuron through dendrites. It is processed in the cell body and goes through the axon and transferred from axon terminal to another neuron (synapse). Information is carried via biochemical substances called neurotransmitter which is released from pre-synaptic neuron and binds to its receptor (protein membrane) in post-synaptic neuron. Neurotransmitters are important in many diseases, human behavior, feeling and sleep etc. In this talk we consider the role of neurotransmitters and their receptors in human body as well as some computational methods used in this area.
