Effective Field Theory approach to lepto-philic self conjugate dark matter

PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

Abstract: We study the self conjugate dark matter (DM) particles interacting primarily with the standard model leptons in an effective field theoretical frame work. We consider SM gauge invariant effective contact interactions between the Majorana fermion, real scalar and a real vector DM with leptons by evaluating the Wilson coefficients appropriate for interaction terms upto dimension-8 and obtain constraints on the parameters of the theory from the observed relic density, indirect detection observations and from the DM-electron scattering cross-sections in the direct detection experiments. Low energy LEP data has been used to study sensiti ...

Axion-Polariton in dense quark matter

PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

Abstract: In this talk, we review the topological properties and possible astrophysical consequences of a spatially inhomogeneous phase of quark matter, known as the Magnetic Dual Chiral Density Wave (MDCDW) phase, which can exist at intermediate baryon density in the presence of a magnetic field. Going beyond mean-field approximation, we show how linearly polarized electromagnetic waves penetrating the MDCDW medium can mix with the phonon fluctuations to give rise to two hybridized modes of propagation: a rotated photon and a massive axion polariton. The formation of axion polarization in the MDCDW core of a neutron star can add mass to the ...
