New ideas for big detectors in high energy physics

Prof. John Hauptman from Iowa State University

Abstract: Three colliders beyond the LHC are being studied, two electron colliders and one muon collider. We are designing a new detector for these colliders based on dual-readout calorimetry by Wigmans, a nearly massless tracking system by Grancagnolo, and an iron-free flux return by Mikhailichenko. I will describe this detector and the physics it can do.
