11:00 - 12:00 Wednesday Weekly Seminar - meeting Wild Phenomenology in Confining Dark Sectors School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: Confining dark sectors are among well-motivated models of dark matter. In this talk, I will point out a few intriguing dynamics in such sectors with drastic effects on their phenomenology. In particular, I will point out how a first order confinement phase transition affects dark matter relic abundance and opens up hitherto unexplored parameter space. I will also briefly advertise an on-going work on signals of such confining dark sectors in direct detection experiments. This includes collective migration, creation and self-propulsion of defects, and flow transitions in the presence of confining walls. The major focus to date has been on the behavior of active material in two dimensions. However, recent experiments have made it possible to study the dynamics of living cells and bacterial colonies in three dimensions. In this talk, I will discuss some of the crucial differences between active nematic materials in two and three dimensions. I will start with an introduct ... 15:30 - 17:00 Geometry and Topology Weekly Seminar Harmonic Maps in the Singular Setting School MATHEMATICS In this talk, I will start with some basic facts on harmonic maps in the smooth setting. I will then touch upon various definitions of harmonic maps with singular targets or domains or both and will discuss some recent and new results in this direction.
