Venue: Niavaran, Lecture Hall 1 ... 14:30 - 16:00 Commutative Algebra Webinar The Bourbaki Degree of Projective Plane Curves School MATHEMATICS We introduce a new invariant for projective plane curves so called Bourbaki degree that captures some important geometric and algebraic features of the curve, namely its singularities and the lowest degree of a syzygy for its gradient ideal. This not only simplifies the proofs of some known results but also provides a new way to classify projective plane curves based on the behavior of this numerical invariant.
