10:00 - 12:30 Weekly Seminar Rewiring of brain networks by electrical stimulation School BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES Several brain disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, schizophrenia and depression are associated with abnormal brain activity and/or connectivity. Reorganization of brain circuits by electrical stimulation has the potential to restore normal brain function. Increasing evidence suggests that the temporal stimulation pattern crucially determines the long-lasting therapeutic effects of stimulation. Here, we tested whether a specific pattern of brain stimulation can enable the suppression of pathologically strong inter-population connectivity through plasticity. More specifically, we tested how introducing a time sh ... 11:00 - 12:00 Theory weekly seminar (TWS) The Vacuum Zero Point Energy Problem, and its Applications in the Early Universe School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: In this seminar, we discuss the Vacuum Zero-Point Energy problem (VZE) related to a massive scalar field with a conformal coupling and a self-interacting term in a de Sitter background. The dimensional regularization scheme is used, with a focus on bubble loops, and a discussion on tadpoles and other types of loops may be beneficial. We also investigate the potential applications of some interesting limits in the early Universe. In addition, we consider the impact of quantum corrections on the cosmological constant problem.
