This presentation focuses on optimal control for closed quantum systems using a combination of the time-dependent variational principle (TDVP) method and the Pontryagin maximum principle. Using these methods optimal control strategies are explored for guiding a single qubit from an initial state to an arbitrary final state, as well as realizing the single qubit quantum gates, both in minimum time or energy. ... |
