11:00 - 12:00 Journal Club: Experiment & Phenomenology – meeting Search for FCNC, why and how? School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: Flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) are forbidden at tree-level and are highly suppressed beyond the tree-level in the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. As a result, the SM predicts very low occurrence rates for such processes. The predicted rates are well below the current sensitivity of the LHC experiments. Therefore, any observable FCNC interaction would be an unambiguous sign of new physics. In this talk, I will show you how researchers search for FCNC at the LHC. Moreover, I will present the latest results from the CMS and ATLAS experiments obtained in searches for FCNC interactions. |
