A deep learning model for predicting the presence of ncRNAs in exosomes

BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Small non-coding RNAs can be secreted through a variety of mechanisms, including exosomal sorting, in small extracellular vesicles, and within lipoprotein complexes. However, the mechanisms that govern their sorting and secretion are still not well understood. In this talk, which is done in collaboration with Dr. Hani Goudarzi lab at UCSF, we will present ExoGRU, a machine-learning model that predicts small RNA secretion probabilities from primary RNA sequence. We experimentally validated the performance of this model through ExoGRU-guided mutagenesis and synthetic RNA sequence analysis and confirmed that primary RNA sequence is a major deter ...

Quantum multiplication algorithm based on the convolution theorem

PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

Abstract:

The problem of efficient multiplication of large numbers has been a long-standing challenge in classical computation and has been extensively studied for centuries. It appears that the existing classical algorithms are close to their theoretical limit and offer little room for further enhancement. However, with the advent of quantum computers and the need for quantum algorithms that can perform multiplication on quantum hardware, a new paradigm emerges. In this talk, inspired by convolution theorem and quantum amplitude amplification paradigm we propose a quantum algorithms for integer multiplication with time complex ...

Toric Rings Attached to Multicomplexes and their Divisor Class Groups

School
MATHEMATICS

In this talk we focus on toric rings of multicomplexes. We show how to compute the divisor class group and the class of the canonical module when such toric ring is normal. In the case that the multicomplex is a discrete polymatroid or a simplicial complex, we discuss more deeply the class group.
