School and Workshop on Quantum Information and Quantum Gravity
  • School
    PHYSICS

The three-day school features introductory presentations covering a wide range of topics in quantum information, as well as its intersection with high-energy physics and gravity. This program is tailored for graduate students and interested researchers. Following the school, the workshop will be held, during which recent findings and advancements in these fields will be presented and discussed.

The school and the first day of the workshop will take place in a hybrid format, while the last day will be held entirely online. For the first four days, participants have the option to attend either in person or virtually. ...

    Dynamical Quantum Phase Transition

    NANO SCIENCES

A phase transition indicates a sudden change in the properties of a large system. For temperature driven phase transitions this is related to non-analytic behavior of the free energy density at the critical temperature: The knowledge of the free energy density in one phase is insufficient to predict the properties of the other phase. It has been shown that a close analogue of this behavior can occur in the real time evolution of quantum systems, namely non-analytic behavior at a critical time, which is called dynamical quantum phase transition. Specifically, it has been shown that the equilibrium quantum phase transition and the dynamical qua ...

Gravitational waves probe of spacetime quantumness

    School
    PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

    Abstract:

In many quantum gravitational models of the universe, spacetime is quantized. However, to ultimately prove that this is actually the case, we need to observe its consequences experimentally. In this work I present a model of nonperturbatively quantized gravitational waves, i.e., spacetime perturbation, inspired by loop quantum gravity, which is a nonperturbative theory of quantum spacetime. I then show how one can attempt at detecting signatures of discreteness of spacetime through the study of these gravitational waves, particularly their waveform and speed of propagation.
