11:00 - 12:00 Wednesday Weekly Seminar - meeting Zero Point Energy: Scrutinizing its Anomalies and Statistics School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: In this study, we investigate the properties of vacuum zero-point energy associated with a scalar field featuring arbitrary mass and conformal coupling within a de Sitter background. By employing a dimensional regularization scheme, we derive expressions for the regularized zero-point energy density, pressure, and trace of the energy-momentum tensor. Our findings reveal that the classical relation ?T?=?4???, which holds for the vacuum stress-energy tensor, experiences anomalous quantum corrections dependent on the mass and conformal coupling. However, we confirm that the relation ???=??P? remains valid. Highly ordered submicron/nanoscale surface features like quantum dots, ripples and steep-walled structures can be formed inexpensively over large areas for relevant applications in industrial and manufacturing processes such as making quantum dot arrays with highly controlled optoelectronic properties or magnetic media for high-density storage. In addition, sputtering is commonly used as a method for cleaning su ... |
