Mechanisms of the Self-assembly of EAK16 Peptides and Formation of Nanostructures in the Presence and Absence of a Hydrophobic Surface

School
NANO SCIENCES

In this work, self-assembly of EAK16 ionic complementary peptides under different pH conditions in the presence and absence of a hydrophobic surface has been studied. In the first part, some self-assembly experiments with EAK16-II and EAK16-IV peptides have been performed. In addition to the experiments, the self-assembly behavior of EAK16 peptides has been studied by using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation in two sections. In the first section, all-atom MD simulations have been used to study the single chain equilibrium conformation and the dimerization of the three types of ionic EAK16 peptide under three pH conditions. Formation of differ ...

Quantum Non-locality in Networks

School
MATHEMATICS

Bell non-locality and its experimental realizations are celebrated results in quantum physics. Non-locality asserts that certain correlations in nature cannot be explained classically, i.e., by the local hidden variable model. In Bell's setting we study correlations between two or more distant parties who share a single source in common. Recently, by the development of quantum communication networks, the more general setup of non-locality in networks is also studied. In this setup, the parties have several sources in common that are shared through a network, so we expect richer non-locality in networks comparing to the standard Bell's setup. ...

Collective dynamics of polarized spin-half fermions in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

Abstract:

Since the first positive measurement of the ?-hyperon global spin polarization in heavy-ion collisions by STAR in 2017, the understanding of the nature of this phenomenon is one of the most intriguing challenges for the scientific community. As relativistic fluid dynamics celebrates multiple successes in describing collective dynamics of the QCD matter in such reactions, the natural question arises whether the spin dynamics can also be modeled in such a framework. In this talk, the motivation for and recent outcomes of the experimental hunt for the macroscopic footprints of quantum spin in the relativistic heavy-ion c ...
