11:00 - 12:00 Journal Club: Experiment & Phenomenology – meeting Linac and THz radiation: Coherent Transition radiation mechanism School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: A successful new application of intense THz radiation is the control of materials properties by high THz fields: insulator–metal transitions, orbital order, superconductivity, or spin waves can be controlled by the transient electric or magnetic field. Most of these experiments have up to now been performed with laser-driven sources which yield THz pulse peak fields in the 100 kV/cm regime routinely with the provided repetition rate of 1 kHz.
