11:00 - 12:00 Journal Club: Experiment & Phenomenology - google meet Recent and not-so-recent developments in black hole Information problem and their implications for particle physics and cosmology School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: Euclidean wormholes (i.e. gravitational instantons) and baby universes play a central role in the recent developments in resolving the black hole information problem. In this talk, I will quickly review these developments as well as some of the discussions of the phenomenological relevance of these gravitational instantons in particle physics and cosmology. In particular, I will review the early discussions of the indeterminacy of effective coupling constants (due to Coleman) as well as the violation of axionic shift symmetries and other global symmetries in the presence of these Euclidean wormholes.
