16:00 - 17:00 IPM holography virtual seminar Non-invertible Symmetries and Confinement in 2d Adjoint QCD School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: I will describe the notion of "non-invertible symmetries" that generalize group-like symmetries in QFTs. We show that massless 2d adjoint QCD is "holographically" dual to a 3d CS theory and thus admits an exponential number of such generalized symmetries. Using them we prove the deconfinement of the fundamental quark and compute the tension of the confining strings in the massive theory. We will also consider the symmetric quartic fermion deformations that are protected by the non-invertible symmetries, thus violating the ordinary notion of naturalness. ... |
