13:30 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Comparison between method of observational data analysis and study of consistency of data sets within a model School ASTRONOMY In this talk, first of all, I will talk about two main data analysis methods namely the Frequntist and Bayesian. Advantages and disadvantages of each method will be argued and some concepts introduced for further expansion. Moreover, I will talk about a recent method base on the information theory, to study the consistency of two data sets within a given model. ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics Group Optical absorption properties of few-layer phosphorene School PHYSICS Seminar Room (classroom A), Farmanieh Building, IPM Organized by: School of Nano Science 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Optical absorption properties of few-layer phosphorene School NANO SCIENCES Optical absorption properties of few-layer phosphorene Abstract: We investigate the optical absorption and transmission of few-layer phosphorene in the framework of ab initio density functional simulations and many-body perturbation theory at the level of random phase approximation. In bilayer phosphorene, the optical transition of the valence band to the conduction band appears along the armchair direction at about 0.72 eV, while it is absent along the zigzag direction. This phenomenon is consistent with experimental observations. The angle-resolved optical absorption in few-layer phosphorene shows that it ... 15:00 - 16:00 Weekly Seminar Observability of Two-Higgs-Doublet Model neutral Higgs bosons at future e-e+ linear colliders School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: Extending the scalar sector of the Standard Model (SM), which was originally assumed to have the simplest possible structure, by adding another scalar doublet, Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM) is obtained. Employing two Higgs doublets immediately results in the prediction of the existence of five Higgs bosons including a light Higgs boson (assumed to be SM-like), two neutral and two charged Higgs bosons. In this talk, we discuss the potential for probing the available parameter space of the flipped 2HDM at future electron-positron linear colliders by searching for the extra neutral Higgs bosons.
