12:00 - 13:15 Analysis Seminar Quantum Reverse Hypercontractivity: Its Tensorization and Applications to the Hypothesis Testing Problem School MATHEMATICS Hypercontractivity and log-Sobolev inequalities have found interesting applications in information theory in the past few years. In particular, recently a strong converse bound for the hypothesis testing problem have been proven based on the reverse hypercontractivity inequalities. This talk is about the generalization of this application to the quantum setting. First, the theory of quantum reverse hypercontractivity and its equivalence with the log-Sobolev inequalities will be discussed. To this end, the problem of the tensorization of quantum hypercontractivity inequalities will be addressed. Next, it is shown how quantum reverse hypercont ... 13:30 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Big Data Era in Astronomy School ASTRONOMY Abstract: I will give a review on the Big Data in Astronomy; all-sky and large-area astronomical surveys and their cataloged data over the whole range of electromagnetic spectrum, from gamma-ray to radio, coming from both ground-based and space telescopes, as well as most important surveys giving optical images, proper motions, variability, and spectroscopic data will be presented, as well as data coming from Space Sciences; both from Earth and Space explorations. Most important astronomical databases and archives are reviewed as well. They are powerful sources for many-sided efficient research using the Astrophysical Virtual Observatory (AVO ... 14:00 - 16:00 Seminar University: Past and Present School COGNITIVE SCIENCES Abstract: Venue: School of Cognitive Sciences, Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM), Opposite the ARAJ, Artesh Highway, Tehran, Iran on map * To join the mailing list: Send an empty email to: scs at ipm dot ir on the subject of: #join ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Generating Energy Landscapes of Many-Body Systems using Artificial Neural Networks: Ionic Interactions School NANO SCIENCES Generating Energy Landscapes of Many-Body Systems using Artificial Neural Networks: Ionic Interactions Abstract: The accuracy of the results obtained in theoretical simulations critically depends on the reliability of the employed interatomic potentials. While efficient electronic structure methods like density functional theory (DFT) have found a wide application in molecular dynamics simulations of comparably small systems containing up to a few hundred atoms, for an investigation of many interesting problems one has to deal with systems too large for DFT. In recent years artificial neural networks (AN ... 15:00 - 16:00 Weekly Seminar Phenomenology of diffractive DIS in the framework of fracture function and determination of diffractive PDFs School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS In this talk, I will present a new determination of the diffractive parton distribution function (diffractive PDFs) from a QCD analysis of all available and up-to-date diffractive deep inelastic scattering (diffractive DIS) data sets from HERA ep collider. This extraction of diffractive PDFs is performed at next-to-leading (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading (NNLO) in perturbative QCD. This new determination of diffractive PDFs is based on the fracture function methodology, a QCD framework designed to provide a statistically sound representation of diffractive PDFs. I will discuss the novel aspects of the approach used in the present analysis, ... 16:00 - 17:00 Mathematics Colloquium Aperiodic Order School MATHEMATICS We propose a wide-audience introduction to the notion of aperiodic order and its connections with numerous domain, as theoretical computer science, dynamical systems, combinatorics or discrete geometry, as well as motivations coming from condensed matter physics, namely quasicrystals. We shall in particular focus on aperiodic tilings characterized only by local constraints and bring a home-made aperiodic puzzle the audience can play with in order to better understand the concepts. ... 16:30 - 18:00 Physics Colloquium Publicizing Science in Iran School PHYSICS Lecture room C, Farmanieh building ... |
