We examine if a generally covariant modification of the dynamics of the empty space-time is capable of describing the flat rotational velocity curves of the spiral galaxies. In so doing, we show f([(|Rabcd|4)/(|Rabcd;e|2)]) is the simplest correction to the Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian capable of describing the flat rotational velocity curves of the spiral galaxies. We also show that such a description alters the space-time geometry around the Sun only beyond 1031 AU from the Sun.
