Abstract: | |||||||
Steady-state self-fields are derived for a relativistic electron beam in a helical
wiggler with ion-channel guiding by a self-consistent method. The effect of self-fields on electron dynamics is studied and modified steady-state orbits and their stabilities have been analysed. Variation of electron energy is included in the stability analysis and it is found that variation has significant effects on the orbit stability. Results of the orbit stability analysis were found in agreement with the single particle simulation.
