  Abstract:
Effect of a strong magnetic eld on different properties of a single sonoluminescing bubble has been studied theoretically with regard to the experimental report of Young et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 4816, (1996)]. We performed a hydrochemical simulation including the magnetic eld force on electric dipole moments of liquid molecules surrounding the bubble. We obtained that at constant pressure forces, the presence of magnetic eld reduces the bubble equilibrium radius. This generates a decrease in the violence of bubble collapse and the peak temperature attainable at the end of it, which nally results in a reduction in the sonoluminescence radiation intensity. Our simulation also shows that the magnetic eld considerably increases the pressure threshold of disappearance of a sonoluminescing bubble and the concerned calculation results are in a good quantitative agreement with the available experimental data.
