  Abstract:
Study of the oscillations of coronal loops are of fundamental importance in heating of the solar corona as a result of the damping of MHD waves. In this respect a magnetized flux tube with a specified density profile is considered and the ideal equation of motion in coronal approximation is obtained. By introducing the viscous and resistive damping in the tube, the singularity of the equation of motion is removed and the solutions are obtained by applying the connection formula technique. The jumps relations in the non-uniform boundary layer are obtained using appropriate boundary conditions. Eigenfrequencies and eigenfields (i.e. the magnetic and velocity fields of the modes) are calculated. The damping rates are obtained and are commented on.
