  Abstract:
Studying the interaction of high-frequency linearly polarized microwave fields with a neutral gas in the non-relativistic limit, we obtain the general dispersion relation of low-frequency perturbations of the produced plasma. Analyzing the latter relation we find that low-frequency ion oscillations are unstable. It is shown that in contrast to the circular polarization case, this instability may always develop for linearly-polarized-microwave-field-produced plasmas.
