  Abstract:
In this work, the radio frequency field and the electron beam dynamics in main linac of the linear accelerator of the Institute for research in fundamental science (IPM), have been studied using two different methods. 2D and 3D structure simulations for the main linac consisting 24 similar cells have been performed using two different codes. The cavity works in 2998 MHz and pi/2 operation mode in a traveling wave periodic structure. Ideal RF field obtained from SUPERFISH and real RF field obtained from HFSS, have been used in ASTRA tracking code in order to study the dynamics of the electron beam. Finally the results of these two ways have been compared. According to the obtained results, the beam stability is the same though the kinetic energy and the transverse beam size in real field is larger than that of the ideal field.
