Abstract: | |||||||||||||||
It is interesting to know the edge effects due to carbon ions and secondary fragments produced in patients. This study evaluate and compare Fluka Monte Carlo simulation results to measurements for proton and carbon ions in clinical settings. FLUKA was used to identify and find perturbations on dose distributions by different materials and tissue samples. These types of studies are important for our treatment of lung tumors, especially near the edge of different implanted materials.
