13:30 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar (Online) Quantum gravity conjectures and early time accelerated expansion https://www.skyroom.online/ch/soa/weekly-seminar School ASTRONOMY Abstract Recently, some conjectures were proposed in the context of string theory. These are general limitations on the effective field theories (EFTs) that are used in cosmology. I will review two important and reasonable conjectures that separately constrained the background and perturbation sectors of EFT useful to study the inflation paradigm. I will explain that there are models in the landscape of these conjectures and compatible with observation as well. Warm inflation is the first idea introduced as an alternative to standard (cold) inflation mixing the slow-roll and reheating epochs. Chromo-Natural inflation is also a model of ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics Group Magnetocaloric effect in Heusler alloys School PHYSICS Abstract: One of the concerns of modern society today is the increase in global average temperature, which causes climate change. Present refrigerators are one of the factors influencing global warming. In addition to the environmental effect, the low efficiency of existing refrigerators is another problem of this technology. Therefore, the development of a new cooling technology that is less harmful to the environment and has the potential to save a lot of energy is ongoing. Magnetic refrigeration is a new field in basic sciences, materials science, and engineering that has been considered as one of the alternatives to present refrig ... |
