DG Algebra Structure of Free Resolutions

    MATHEMATICS

Let $R$ be a residue class of a commutative Noetherian ring $S$. A free resolution of $R$ over $S$ is considered as an extension of a presentation of $R$ by its relations. The existence of a differential graded algebra (DGA) structure for a free resolution of $R$ gives lots of information about the complexity of $R$. The aim of this talk is to give a brief introduction to differential graded algebras. A prime example of DGA is the Koszul complex. Tate showed that by starting from the Koszul complex on relations of $R$, it is always possible to construct a free resolution of $R$ with a DGA structure. ...

The hot sites of ??synuclein in amyloid fibril formation

    BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

The role of alpha?synuclein (?S) amyloid fibrillation has been recognized in various neurological diseases including Parkinson’s Disease (PD). In early stages, fibrillation occurs by the structural transition from helix to extended states in monomeric ?S followed by the formation of beta?sheets. This alpha?helix to beta?sheet transition (??T) speeds up the formation of amyloid fibrils through the formation of unstable and temporary configurations of the ?S. In this study, the most important regions that act as initiating nuclei and make unstable the initial configuration were identified based on sequence and structural information. In this re ...

    PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

Abstract: I use the quantum null energy condition (QNEC) in strongly coupled two dimensional field theories as diagnostic tool to study a variety of phase structures, including crossover, second and first order phase transitions. A universal QNEC2 constraint for first order phase transitions with kinked entanglement entropy will be presented and I will discuss in general the relation between the QNEC2-inequality and monotonicity of the Casini–Huerta c-function. Then in a specific holographic example, I will show that evaluating QNEC2 for ground state solutions allows to predict the existence of phase transitions at finite temperature.
