To understand their assembly process, we present here a reconstituted contractile system, comprising F-actin and myosin II filaments, where we can control the local activation of myosin by light. By stimulating different symmetries, we show that the force balancing at the boundaries determine the shape changes as well as the dynamics of the global contraction. Spatially anisotropic attachment of initially isotropic networks leads to a self-organization of highly aligne ... 11:00 - 12:00 Quantum information biweekly journal club Coherent Quantum-Noise Cancellation School NANO SCIENCES Coherent Quantum-Noise Cancellation Papers: 1- https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.105.123601 2- https://journals.aps.org/prx/pdf/10.1103/PhysRevX.2.031016 3- https://journals.aps.org/pra/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevA.92.043817 4- http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1367-2630/18/7/073040/meta Venue: Farmaniyeh Bldg, Classroom C. ... 14:00 - 15:00 Combinatorics and Computing Weekly Seminar Probabilistic bounds for domination parameters in graphs School MATHEMATICS Lecture Hall 1, School of Mathematics, Niavaran Bldg., Niavaran Square, Tehran, Iran ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar MD/FE multiscale modeling of metal-based nanocomposites through off-line atomistically-informed equivalent nanofillers School NANO SCIENCES MD/FE multiscale modeling of metal-based nanocomposites through off-line atomistically-informed equivalent nanofillers With ever increasing the applications of metal matrix nanocomposites (MMNCs) reinforced with carbon nanofillers (i.e. carbon nanotubes and graphene sheets), demand for accurate and effective modeling techniques in this area has been increased in recent years. Although there are various experimental and numerical studies in this regard, there is a lack of fundamental understanding of how the geometrical characteristics of these different nanofillers affect their reinforcing role. In this review, I present the experimental aspects of searches for dark matter at the LHC, focusing on the latest results released by this machine. A special emphasis is placed on the interplay between LHC dark matter searches and other types of dark matter experiments. A specific search for dark matter is also proposed in context of co-annihilation model. Larak Seminar Room ... 16:00 - 17:00 Colloquium From active particles to active matter School NANO SCIENCES From active particles to active matter Abstract: Active particles, in very wide range of length scales, are found all around the word. From microscopic scales, as molecular motors, to huge vehicles or animals, they span more than 10 orders of magnitude. However, despite of the size, they all do behave very similar either when they are alone or move in colonies. Here we introduce active particles and active matter and introduce models that help us to study both their individual and collective motions. ... |
