We provide two equivalent expressions for the entropy generated in the non-equilibrium steady state of coupled quantum harmonic oscillators that allow for a simple interpretation of the onset of irreversibility. We then unveil a quantitative relation between the entropy production rate and correlations, both total and quantum, built between the two oscillators. In the small-coupling limit, th ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics Group Colloidal Hard Sphere Crystals and their Interfaces in Density Functional Theory School PHYSICS Farmanieh Seminar Room ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Colloidal Hard Sphere Crystals and their Interfaces in Density Functional Theory School NANO SCIENCES Colloidal Hard Sphere Crystals and their Interfaces in Density Functional Theory Colloidal hard spheres are an intensely studied model system for addressing nucleation of crystals from metastable liquids. Understanding nucleation requires a precise knowledge about equilibrium crystal structures and free energies. The research presented in this talk addresses necessary equilibrium information for understanding of homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation in the hard sphere system. Classical density functional theory (DFT) of fundamental measure type (FMT) is used to evaluate the fully minimized crystal density profiles and the ... |
